Ford F-150
Ford well known for their trucks, with the F150 being the most popular. The Ford F-150 has been on the market for over 5 decades. In the United States, for over twenty years running, it has been the best-selling vehicle and the best selling truck for over 30 years. The F150 is said to have accounted for over half of Ford Motor Company’s sales over the last number of years. For those that are truck fans, nothing compares to the Ford F-150.
The first F150, then names the F-1, to ever be manufactured was in 1948. It not only looked modern for the time, but it also had some modern features including a foot-pump activated windshield washer system and passenger side sun visor. Ford realized that trucks were not just used for the farm – they were becoming traveling vehicles. For the following ten years, all F-150’s were equipped with four wheel drive, 6.5 ft beds and additional chrome and dual horns were available as an option. Interestingly, the style of the first generation Ford F-150 is similar to their current models, with the horizontal bar grill. The first engine built for the F150 was 95hp, with other models having engines as powerful as 145hp.
The Ford F150 has come a long way since those first early days. The most current models have some of the most innovative features on not only F150s, but all trucks.
