Ford Focus
Even though Ford has not really been known for their smaller cars, they have had some good success with the Ford Focus. The Focus was designed to replace the Mercury Tracer and Ford Escort within North America when if was first released in late 1999 as a 2000 model. It originally came in four different models: three and five door hatchbacks, sedan and wagon. Since its inception, it has housed some of Ford’s increasingly innovative technology such as AdvanceTrac and the Duratec engines. There were even optional moonroofs and six disc CD changers and heated front seat. For it being a basic vehicle among Ford models, quite a few options were available.
Today, as the ever-changing market seeks new ways to conserve energy and money, it is becoming apparently clear that more customers are looking at smaller cars. Ford has come to the rescue with a great option for those looking for an inexpensive, economic and reliable domestic auto: the 2009 Ford Focus.
The exterior was redesigned in 2008 to give it a hipper and edgier look than its predecessors and to incorporate Fords rebirth of the bar grill. It also scaled down some of its Focus models leaving only the four door sedan and two door coupe. Even though there were customers disappointed to lose the sporty hatchback, patience is needed as the Ford Fiesta will soon be on the market, filling the hatchback void.
It gets great gas mileage, too, with as much as 35mpg on the highway. It comes available in either automatic or 5 speed manual transmission which is perfectly paired with Ford’s patented Control Blade handling arms and four wheel automatic suspension, it makes for a great car to drive.
The interior was also revamped, going from glowing green to ice blue which glows sleekly off the silvery panels that run through the dash board. Ambient Lighting is also a standard feature on the 2009 Ford Focus, so your interior can match your mood.
Other standard features on the Focus is Sirius Satellite radio and SYNC which links your cell phone so things such as the radio and MP3 player become voice activated, making for a safer, more focused ride. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather and the leather trimmed seats look sporty with contrasting-colored stitching.
The Ford Focus Coupe comes with fantastic accessories such as 17″ dark stainless aluminum wheels and chromed exhaust pipes. The fascias are lowered; a rear spoiler is added, giving it a more aggressive look.
Even though it is a smaller vehicle, the Ford Focus has ample trunk space, so even if you and three friends go on a weekend road trip, there’s still plenty of room for lots of luggage. Plus, it has a lowered opening, which means it is easier to get heavier items and out of the trunk without straining your back. Plus, it has a 60/40 split rear seat which means one side can be folded down to transport longer items.
